Writing a blog is the modern way of giving a voice to your thoughts in the world, so you don't have to go around the world with a speaker in hand and shout to people.
Speaking out helps you find consensus with people on something that you care. You want to be heard because you care about something, that's the original source of the motive, once you care about something, you want to make sure that there are people who care about the same thing, or maybe you want to call people's attention to the things you care about, even attempt to change people's opinion.
We feel ourselves stronger when we find our opinions gain a lot of echos around the world, that means we don't stand alone by ourselves, that means there are people out there holding the same belief standing behind us. This gives us confidence, if not direct power in life. That's why we seek agreements from strangers on the internet.
Being heard gives you power, influence and attention, when you want to make a change, first of all you need to communicate with people, so that you are sure of the beneficiality of the change you desire.
As much as we desire agreement and consensus with people, ironically we don't always appreciate an idea that is being commonly acknowledged. If one writes a blog about things that 99% people agree with, then there's nothing interesting in it, he would be basically repeating public opinions if not merely stating straight facts. When we read, when we write, our brains are first attracted to the topics that remains in debate, a little bit drama makes opinion exchange so much more enjoyable. Luckily there are so many things in the world on which we don't always agree, or even never being able to reach a consensus on, therefore we always have something to debate, to talk about, to discuss, to seek solutions. A product liked and disliked, a politician supported and unsupported, a plot, a conspiracy, a unique interpretation of something etc.
It all comes down to Ying and Yang, two forces wrestle each other, balance each other and keep each other alive.
If the world was made of uniform ideal, everyone held the same opinion, then there would be no need for communicating any more. We would be as if a bunch of ants, just executing the mother nature's grand design. So, appreciate the disagreements you have with your neighbor, that's what makes us human, that's why we have voices that must be uttered and heard and passed around, that's why we write blogs, tweets, books, make videos, podcasts etc.
And with some dedicated crafting in good hands, we have great works to enjoy during our coffee time.
